Shane Kwong, RD, BASc, MBA, is a Registered Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC). With a unique background spanning nutrition science, culinary arts, and healthcare operations, Shane provides a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to food and wellness.
Shane’s journey began in the culinary world, earning a Culinary Management diploma from Humber College. This foundation in professional cooking evolved into a deep pursuit of clinical excellence, leading to an Advanced Diploma in Food and Nutrition Management and a Bachelor of Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Guelph. He further rounded out his strategic expertise by completing an MBA.
Throughout his career, Shane has bridged the gap between the kitchen and the clinic. His diverse experience includes:
Nutrition Education: Current Faculty Instructor in the Food and Nutrition department at Langara College.
Healthcare Operations: Strategic menu planning and operations for Island Health.
Clinical Care: Serving as a Long-term Care Dietitian and supporting the Trillium Health Partners Diabetes Management program.
Community Nutrition: Leading culinary operations for a cross-Canada cycling initiative.
Whether teaching the next generation of nutrition professionals at Langara College or developing strategic health initiatives, Shane is committed to the "whole foods" philosophy and practical food skills.
Through my clinical training as a Registered Dietitian, academic background in nutrition science, and personal experience with strength training and home cooking, I take a practical, results-driven approach to health.
Nutrition is often overcomplicated by fad-driven narratives. In my practice, I don't believe in:
Quick Fixes: Sustainable health is a marathon, not a sprint.
Detoxes or Cleanses: Your body is already equipped with the systems it needs; we focus on supporting them with real food.
Extremely Restrictive Plans: Rigid dieting often leads to burnout. I prioritize flexibility.
Fear-Based Messaging: Food should be a source of fuel and joy, not anxiety.
I advocate for a whole-foods approach that integrates into your actual life. I believe in:
Education Over Rules: Understanding the why behind your food choices.
Simplicity Over Complexity: Sustainable habits beat "perfect" but impossible plans.
Consistency Over Time: Small, repeated actions yield the greatest long-term strength and health.
Structure Over Motivation: Building a system that works even when your motivation is low.
Functional & Enjoyable Food: Nutrition should support your performance in the gym and your pleasure at the dinner table.
No Pressure, Just Conversation: This isn't a clinical assessment or a sales pitch. It’s a chance for us to meet and see if we "click."
Your Vision, First: We’ll briefly discuss your health goals and what you’re looking for in a Registered Dietitian.
The "Crunch Health" Approach: I’ll explain how my nutrition philosophy works and how I support my clients through collaborative problem-solving.
Answering Your Questions: Whether you’re curious about virtual sessions, insurance, or my specific expertise, this is your time to ask.
